Although social networks were born on computers, currently our interaction with them is mainly through mobile devices. However, with the incorporation of these platforms as key agents in the digital marketing and advertising processes, the demand has arisen for a more complete integration for computers. That said, in recent days Instagram announced the arrival of a new function to its desktop platform, one that will allow optimizing the workflow for social media managers.

In any case, this new functionality will allow users who are using a computer to more comfortably manage their different social networks without having to resort to external content management tools. Something that professionals in the field solve through well-known brands such as Hootsuite, but that for ordinary users required them to follow a whole series of complicated steps. At first it may not sound like a big change, but this streamlining of the process offers a means to optimize the workflow in social media management.

Fortunately, making a post on Instagram from your computer is really simple, just like we do from the mobile app. In the upper right part of the screen we will now find, between the Messenger and explore buttons, a new button with a “+” symbol . Clicking on this button will open a window like the previous one, where we can drag and drop the image we want to upload, or search for it on the computer. Once this is done, everything is similar to the mobile application, we select the format and size of the image, as well as the filters, to finally incorporate the location, tags or text of the publication.



It will no longer be necessary to trick the browser to publish on Instagram
Instagram had been working on this feature since June, but it had only been released for some selected users. Starting last week, any user of the application will be able to access this feature, although at the moment it is restricted to publications. On the other hand, it is expected that later it will also allow you to upload Reels or Stories from the computer as well.

While it is true that until now there was no function to upload posts from the desktop, there were some ways to achieve it. To do this, it was necessary to enter the browser's inspection mode and change the page display to a mobile format, just as is done from a phone to view the pages as “desktop sites.” This tricked the Instagram website and allowed publications to be made, but it was a tedious process to say the least and without the platform's own integration.
